About Our Shrimps
Shrimps are smaller and sweeter than our prawns, and they cook in seconds rather than minutes - which makes them brilliant stirred through a pilau, a coconut curry, a pasta or a fried rice at the very last moment. They carry flavour beautifully and add a note of the coast to almost anything.
The only skill with shrimps is not overcooking them: they go from sweet and snappy to rubbery almost instantly, so add them at the end and take the pan off the heat the moment they turn pink and tight. Very high in protein and very low in fat. For a bigger, meatier shellfish, take our prawns; for a firm grilling fish alongside, our kingfish.
How to Cook Shrimps
- Cook for under a minute - watch them, do not time them.
- Add them at the very end of a curry, pilau or stir-fry, off the direct heat.
- They are done the instant they turn pink and curl - stop there.
- Devein larger ones by scoring along the back.
- Toss through garlic butter, or fold into fried rice at the last second.

Walk in any day - Monday to Saturday 6:30am - 7:00pm, Sunday 9:00am - 5:00pm - and buy it over the counter, or order here and we will deliver it chilled. Orders placed before 4:00pm go out the same day across the CBD, Westlands, Kilimani, Karen and everywhere else we serve.

Yes, and at no extra charge - it is the whole point of buying from a butcher rather than a chiller cabinet. Tell us the thickness, trim, portion size or preparation you want in the notes when you order, or just describe what you are cooking and let us choose. We butcher whole carcasses at City Market, so the options are real.
Yes, every day. Order before 4:00pm on 0707 700511 for same-day chilled delivery across Nairobi. Delivery is a flat fee by area, from KSh 300 to KSh 1,000 depending on where you are, and it is added to your basket total automatically. See the full fee table.
Fish is best cooked the day you buy it. If you must keep it, store it in the coldest part of the fridge on a plate over ice, loosely covered, and use it within one day.
